Expats Living in Mexico

Living abroad is full of excitement but also emotional complexity. Having lived in the US, Europe, and Mexico—and having relocated many times—I understand the challenges of rebuilding a life in a new culture.

Why Therapy for Expats?

Couples Therapy may be especially helpful if you are experiencing:

  • Culture shock
  • Loneliness and isolation
  • Difficulty forming community
  • Identity shifts
  • Homesickness
  • Language or cultural stress
  • Relationship strain
  • Anxiety related to instability

Recommended therapeutic approaches:

Below is an overview of the therapeutic approaches used in sessions. Your treatment plan is always personalized, these modalities can be used individually or combined depending on your needs - including with the body movement therapy or other therapies.

  • Traditional Psychotherapy

Talk therapy provides a supportive space to process the emotional complexity of building a life abroad. We explore identity changes, cultural adjustment, loneliness, and the stress of transition. This approach helps you make sense of your experience while strengthening resilience and belonging.

  • EMDR

Helps process emotional overwhelm from sudden relocation, major life changes, or identity confusion.

  • Brainspotting Therapy

Supports the deeper emotional experience of feeling rootless or unsure of belonging.

  • Body Movement & Somatic Work

Relocation often keeps the body in “alert mode.” We use grounding movement, breathwork, and yoga-based practices to help the body settle so the mind can, too.

  • Optional Cacao Session

A grounding ritual to support clarity, belonging, and emotional stability during major transitions.
