Couples Therapy

Relationships evolve, and sometimes partners need guidance to reconnect, rebuild trust, or understand each other differently. During a couples therapy session, I create a safe environment for the partners to communicate with honesty, compassion, and intention. Many couples wait until problems feel overwhelming, but therapy is most effective when started early. Do not let the challenges that you are facing individually or as a couple stop you from keeping your relationship healthy. And before starting your first couple therapy session, I recommend that the two of you read my article on how to better prepare for the first meeting.

Do you need couples therapy?

This type of therapy may be especially helpful if you or your partner is experiencing:

  • Intimacy challenges

Recommended therapeutic approaches:

Below is an overview of the therapeutic approaches used in sessions. Your treatment plan is always personalized, these modalities can be used individually or combined depending on your needs - including with the body movement therapy or other therapies.

  • Traditional Psychotherapy

Couples-focused talk therapy helps both partners feel heard, understood, and supported. We explore communication patterns, unmet needs, and recurring conflicts, always with the goal of strengthening connection. This approach helps partners slow down, listen differently, and rebuild emotional trust.

  • EMDR

Helps each partner process personal triggers that show up in the relationship (for example, reacting strongly during conflict due to past relational pain). This will be done in individual sessions

  • Brainspotting Therapy

Helps partners identify emotional blocks affecting communication or closeness. This will be done as an individual session

  • Body Movement & Somatic Work

Partners often hold tension during conflict (tight shoulders, holding breath). Somatic tools—breathing practices, grounding postures, or co-regulation exercises—support calmer communication. This can be done either individually or together with your partner

  • Optional Cacao Session

Beautiful for pre-marriage rituals, marriage renewal, or group couples circles. Cacao encourages emotional openness, gratitude, and connection.
